ニコレッタ（1973年生まれ）は、イタリア内にある小国、サンマリノに住む、人気作家。イタリア・ウルビーノの州立美術学校（映像アニメーション学科）を卒業。ブラチスラバ世界絵本原画展、ボローニャ国際絵本原画展入選。イタリアのアンデルセン賞で、最優秀イラストレーターに選ばれました。また米国コミュニケーション・アーツ優秀賞を受賞。フランスの3Dアニメーション映画『La mecanique du couer』のキャラクターデザインを担当。少女のファンタジックな世界を描いています。イラスト・ユーロも多くの作品を取り上げています。

《The Fool of the World and the Flying Shi》
Along time ago, in a small country town, there lived a man and a woman and their three healthy sons. The two elder boys were as bright as buttons, but the third was a complete and utter dunce, or at least that is what everyone thought.
One day, word reached the town that the king had offered his only daughter in marriage to anyone who would come to his court with a ship that could fly.
“A flying ship!” cried the father. “What a strange idea!”
“Oh, not so strange,” said the first brother. “I’m sure I could make one, if I set my mind to it.”
“Not strange at all,” said the second. “I’m sure I could make one, too.”
“What clever young men you both are!” declared their mother, and she gave each boy a new set of clothes, some food for the journey, and off they went to the court of the king, to make a ship that could fly and win the hand of a princess.
